Our Story

PineRidge Equine Park is a dream come true for Gerry and Irene Loewen.  Their journey began back in Calgary where Gerry had moved from Saskatoon and was in the construction industry and Irene had moved from Winnipeg to teach.  It is here they met and began to live their dreams. Ranching was always their passion and in the early 70's they began with cattle, sheep and quarter horses.  As well as ranching, Gerry worked out of Palliser's Calgary operation where Irene continues as the executor of the Defehr Foundation, the philanthropy division of Palliser.

As the winds of time change so did life for Gerry and Irene; twenty five years ago they headed to Manitoba and settled in the Springfield County where they bought 10 acres and 3 mares.  They bred these fine mares to champions like Brenna's Kid, Tejohn's Peppy Doc, Arc Matt O'Lena and Gallo Del Cielo.

Gerry continued work for Palliser during which time the family spent 2 years in Taiwan opening the companies international division.

As dreaming continued ideas were tossed about for either starting a business here or building their own horse complex and so the concept of PineRidge Equine Park came to be.  In the fall of 2001, they found the perfect location for an equine centre.  It was a quarter section of bare, beautiful pastureland.   Five years of preparation, planning and research behind them, construction of the arena began on June 3, 2002.  Gerry's construction background was hugely beneficial as the arena, 2 barns and a hayshed went up simultaneously.  The arena and barn were completed by early December.  By mid February, the trainer barn was full with a waiting list and the arena was busy.

Sandpiper Stock Farms is the breeding program located at PineRidge Equine Park and owned and managed by Gerry and Irene.   Quality foals bred for reining and cutting.  These athletic youngsters are available for sale.
